Legacy Admissions: Rotten Policy or Enhancement of Diversity?

As an immigrant in the US, I often find myself being surprised, learning something new about the laws and policies in this country. Recently, I found out about the legacy admissions in the US elite universities, and it shocked me to my bones: this is literally the definition of nepotism, how can they still be allowed?

Free Period Products: Is It Bananas or Cool?

On the 24th of November, the Scottish Parliament approved the bill that made “provision for free period products for anyone who needs them.” This is a historical moment, as Scotland is the first country to do so. According to UNICEF and the World Bank, lack of access to menstrual hygiene products forces girls to miss school worldwide, which makes the bill a big step toward improving girls’ education.

“Have you come to study? Learn!”

It has been more than two months of protests on the streets of the Republic of Belarus. In August, Alexander Lukashenko, who has ruled the country since 1994, again won the presidential election and started his 6th term in office. The opposition claimed that the election result was falsified, and people started going to the protests, which were and continue to be brutally dispersed. Worldwide, students are usually one of the protests’ driving forces. Belarus is not an exception: many students were actively participating in the protests, and now they are being punished for this.
